Democracy Officer YEAR REPORT 2014

In my manifesto I said : As democracy officer I intend to guide the reps to make sure the representation system works. This means giving them more useful training and all the support they should possibly need. I will also dedicate time to help with the election and the voting process of the course reps to make sure things are kept fair and proper. I will keep focused on the job. I love working as a team and will put time and effort in to doing as much as I can.

I believe that this year, I have worked my hardest to ensure that the things I set out to do were getting, done, there were things that I hoped to achieve that I can hold my hands up for and only apologise that they didn’t get done, but others, like the elections that ran and the by-electios just gone that I really out time and effort to make sure they were done on time. Course reps have gone a better this year and many have approached me and vice versa when things needed to be sorted, but I hope that the course reps is something that will be continued to be supported and worked on once the position of democracy is handed on This year I have suffered some blows on the illness side of things, and on a personal level, things have not gone according to plan, but I have tried to put in as much as I could this year. I have enjoyed the role at the union and it was worth running for. I have dedicated heart to the job and even when the going got tough I made a choice to stick it through for the student and to prove to myself that nothing is impossible when you set your mind to the task

Swot analysis Strengths Effort and time put in to the jobs at hand Motivation Course rep conference Elections and by Elections Weaknesses Illness and cost time due to illness Lack of communication Not asking for help from the others on the team Opportunities Meeting the higher staff members and communicating about the university from a student level Meeting new people everyday student and staff alike and getting to know their opinions Threats Facebook Change of the system here at Newman.
