Innovations Projects

Projects 2014: Feedback on the feedback – contextualizing maths feedback by degree subject – A pilot in Animal Science. Based on the following Innovations projects: – 2006: Integrating an on-line assessment tool for maths & stats with appropriate videos. 150 videos created. – 2007 : Create a web-site which will act as a portal to the support tools and material in mathematics, statistics and numeracy.

Other non-Innovations projects used Numbas (2010-present). Numbas VETNET LLN project (2008/9). – AFRD and the Maths School cooperated on a survey of FE and HE institutions that revealed the need to improve numeracy in Animal-related disciplines. Maths Support Wiki (2013). Maths Support Wiki – Aimed at supporting maths, stats and numeracy at an early stage. Created mainly by undergraduate students under supervision.

The Animal Science Project There are generic numeracy support resources available to students of all disciplines across the University. How useful is it to non-maths students? An interdisciplinary team of Animal Science and Maths students reflected on the feedback supplied. Then piloted subject-specific examples to increase engagement with this feedback.subject-specific examples Evaluated by the next cohort of Stage 1 Animal Scientists.

Evaluation and Dissemination Evaluation by first year students in AFRD Talk at the British Society for Animal Science conference on e-assessment supporting maths & stats.
