TASK 16 LEVEL E FITNESS NIKOS KARASTATHIS MARKOS SAVOPOULOS

What is Fitness? The state or condition of being fit; suitability or appropriateness. Good health or physical condition, especially as the result of exercise and proper nutrition.

Cooper Test Place markers at set intervals around the track to aid in measuring the completed distance. Participants run for 12 minutes, and the total distance covered is recorded. Walking is allowed, though the participants must be encouraged to push themselves as hard as they can.

The Rockport Walk Test The purpose of this test is to walk as fast as possible for 1 mile. After you have completed the mile, immediately take your pulse rate. If you do not have a heart rate monitor, you can manually count the number of beats for 10 seconds, and then multiply that by 6 to get your minute heart rate. Note the time it took to complete the mile.

To take the Rockport Walk Test : You need to have a 1-mile course. For most high school tracks, that is 4 laps around the innermost lane. You can use the online Google Map Pedometer to measure out a 1-mile course on a street or path.Google Map Pedometer Warm up at a gentle pace for at least 5 minutes. Walk 1 mile as fast as you can. Record your time to walk 1 mile. Take your heart rate immediately at the end of 1 mile. You can do this with a heart rate monitor or by taking your pulse for 15 seconds and multiplying by 4. Enter your data into the calculator below. The calculator determines your VO2Max and compares that to standards for your gender and age group to tell you your fitness level.

GENERAL MEASURMENTS THAT DEFINE YOUR PHYSICAL FITNESS Very Poor < 35.0 Poor Fair Good Excellent Superior > 55.9

Muscle endurance and muscle strength/power Muscular fitness has two components: muscular strength and muscular endurance. Muscular strength is the greatest amount of force a muscle or muscle group can exert in a single effort. Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle or muscle group to do repeated contractions against a less-than-maximum resistance for a given time. Although muscular endurance and strength are separate fitness components, they are closely related. Progressively working against resistance will produce gains in both of these components.

Motor fitness is a more inclusive term than physical fitness. Physical fitness combines strength, stamina, and cardiovascular reserve. Motor fitness includes these and adds agility, balance, “explosive” power, and speed. This concept has more limited value for the sportsman but approaches an even higher level of general fitness. Because more parameters are measured, these tests tend to become increasingly complex and complicated.
