AP Human Geography We want you to take AP HuG!

Class Overview AP Human Geography is a fun, unique class offered only to freshman that revolves around the study of relationships between humans, their environment and how they impact each other. This year we have studied things from aspects of culture such as, language, religion and cultural identities to development and globalization.

Reasons to take AP Human Geography To give yourself a challenge by taking an upper level class Better prepare yourself for future classes and college Looks good on a college application Allows you to learn something besides what you traditionally study in a Social Studies class Helps you in other academic classes You have a free elective and want to take a class that will be fun yet still challenging

Benefits of taking AP Human Geography Challenges you to think critically and abstractly as to why things happen or what causes them Better prepares you by teaching you time management, and forcing you to study Concepts translate into other subject areas making them easy to understand It will show colleges that you were able to handle a college level class as a freshman and that you applied yourself your first year

People Who Should Take the Class Students who are strong in social studies work hard take learning seriously willing to put forth the effort to be successful enjoy critical thinking and hands on projects and activities have a good attitude

Fun things we have done this year We studied aspects of cultures of our own choosing and presented them in unique ways to the class Researched environmental issues, weather phenomenon, and natural disasters and their impact on the earth and humans; Debated Global Warming Build folk housing out of everything from LEGOs to cardboard to clay and even graham crackers Watched The Whale Rider and Nacho Libre and identified cultural symbols and stereotypes within the films as well as issues of gender and ethnicity
