Presentation transcript:

In these tutorials the use adaptive mesh refinement will be review Workbench 12.1 Aalborg Universitet esbjerg Søren Heide Lambertsen

Start an Static structural analysis and then import an geometry. Then open the model by double clicking on ”Model”

After the model window appears click on “mesh”

When you have clicked on mesh you can see the properties in this menu. It is possible to refine the mesh by changing “Relevance” Click on ”Update” to create the mesh.

After clicking the ”update” bottom the mesh will appear.

Click on ”Analysis settings” and then choose the menu ”Loads”

In the “Loads” menu click on "Force"

Select the surface. When the surface is selected it will appear as green. After that click on “Apply”

Insert 1000 N.

Then rotate the body so it is possible to select the opposite surface.

Then insert a ”Fixed support”

Select the surface and click on “Apply”

Now the surface is fixed.

Click on ”Solution” and then on ”Stress” in the top menu.

Select ”Equilvalent (von-Mises)”

Right click on equilvalent stress and click insert and select ”Convergence”.

Now click on convergense and select 1%. This allows a maximum change in solution of 1%.

Like this.

Then select ”Solution”

Set the ”Max refinement Loops” to 10.

Then click on ”Solve”

Click on Convergence when the solve process is running. It is now possible to follow the convergence history.

When the solver is finished click on ”Equivalent stress” and then select ”Show Elements”

Now the mesh from the last solution is shown.
