 December 7, 1941: Early Sunday morning, 3 waves of Japanese fighters (Zeroes) led surprise attack on the U.S. Naval Installation at Pearl Harbor & Hickam Field  Destruction was enormous  2,400 Americans killed  Almost 200 aircraft destroyed  All 8 battleships in port either sunk or seriously damaged
