What’s up in Jessie’s Classroom? By Jessie Chen Taipei Municipal Ku Ting Elementary School

First, let me introduce my students.

Type A: Little Genius  I raise my hand about 100 times in each class.  I always ask Miss Chen when we will take English tests?  I think Miss Chen can skip the whole textbook ‘cause I already learned it at a bushiban.

Type B: 3F Party  I like group practice more than individual practice.  Just between you and me, I open my mouth but never make a sound when Miss Chen forces us to do oral practice all together.  Whenever I think of English, I only have three facial expressions: ( ˇ ˍ ˇ)or (× ﹏ ×) or ( ╯︿╰)

Hmm, how do I satisfy every kid?

So…this is the way I teach English:  Sometimes we do “arousing activities” to prevent students and I from falling asleep!

1. Songs and Chants

2. Puppet Shows

3. Role-Plays

4. Language Games

Of course, if any wise teacher doesn’t want to jump up and down all day and become too tired to teach, she has to do some “calming activities.”
