William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 in the small town of Stratford-upon-Avon. John Shakespeare (William’s father) had 8 children. William went to the grammar school and got good education. He loved reading very much.

Williams Shakespeare’s father, John Shakespeare, was a glove-maker. When William was a kid he helped his father to work. William’s mother, Mary Shakespeare, was a farmer’s daughter.

William Shakespeare married farmer’s daughter Anne Hathaway when he was a teenager. Anne was older then William. They had 3 children. First - Susannah, then twins – Hamnet, a boy, and Judith, a girl.

In 1587 William Shakespeare went to work to London. We don’t know why he did it. But just in London William began to act and to write plays. Soon he became important member of acting company. A lot of his plays were performed in the new Globe Theatre built on the bank of Thames.

In 1613 William stopped writing and came to Stratford where he died on his birthday on April 23, Four hundred years his plays are being performed in the whole world.
