About your teacher: My name is Mrs. Harrison. This is my first year at Pershing Middle School and I am very excited to join such an awesome family. I am married and have a daughter Hannah who is in 9 th grade this year. When I am not at school, I am usually at the softball field watching my daughter play. I have a chocolate lab named Libby, a weenie dog named Copper, a cat named Witty, and a bunny creatively named, Mr. Buns! I hope to pass my love for math on to each of you and look forward to a fun and exciting year! Rules/Expectations: Every student will be expected to behave appropriately in my math classroom. If for some reason this is not the case the consequences will go as follows… 1 st offense-verbal warning 2 nd offense-sign agenda (parent signature required) 3 rd offense- detention will be assigned (parent contacted) 4 th offense-office referral Grading: Daily grades 60%-consist of homework, in class assignments, participation, spirals and quizzes Major grades 40%-consist of tests, take-home projects, in class projects. Supplies: Spiral 3 to 5 subject-wide ruled with pockets Glue sticks Pencils Checking pen or pencil Pencil Sharpener (no battery operated please!) I will do random spiral checks for daily grades to make sure students are keeping up and staying organized. Organization is one of the first steps to being successful in math! Homework: Assignments for the week will be recorded in agenda each Monday/Tuesday. These will include homework assignments, test dates, project due dates, etc. Homework grades will be given based on effort and completion. I encourage parents to check the agenda each night but especially Monday/Tuesday night for an overview of the weeks assignments. Students will have math homework EVERY night except Friday unless there is something that my need to be finished over the weekend. PRACTICE DOESN’T MAKE PERFECT, IT MAKES PERMENANT!!
