MS. IBRAHIMI’S ART ROOM PROCEDURES School Year

RECOMMENDED ART SUPPLIES -sketchbook with white drawing paper (9”x12”) – spiral- or hard-bound -graphite pencil – no.2 writing pencil or graphite drawing pencils (2H, 6B, etc.) -erasers – white plastic, pink pearl, kneaded eraser -black Sharpies – fine and extra fine

ENTERING CLASS -whoever is here first from your table should pick up your table’s portfolios from the cubbies - sit in your seat quietly -take out your agenda, opened on today’s date, copy today’s agenda message, and set it to the side of your table -work on your CATS warm-up sketch (these stay in an Art section in your 3-ring binder – or sketchbook if you have one!)  I will take attendance during this time  you will be graded daily based on your CATS warm-up sketch completion  if you’ve purchased a sketchbook, please keep this with your 3-ring binder – bring every day!

HALL PASSES - do not ask to use a hall pass (restroom, water, etc.) during the first and last 10 minutes of class – it is very important to be in the art room during these times!  if there is an EMERGENCY, write a pass and go ahead and go – you do not need to ask me to sign your pass in this case

SHARPENING YOUR PENCILS -you do not need to ask me to sharpen your pencils, but please DO NOT sharpen during instruction or while I am speaking to the class -for certain projects (ex.: when we use colored pencils), I will have small sharpeners at your tables for you to use -do not form a line at the sharpeners  wait your turn at your table! -read the pencil sharpener procedures (above the manual sharpeners, attached to the electric sharpener) before use! -do not use the electric sharpener for anything but graphite pencils (what you use to write and draw with)  most other materials will clog or break the sharpener!

DURING CLASS -you may talk quietly while working during class  I should be able to get the attention of the class without having to shout over everyone! -there should be more working than talking  use your time efficiently! -if you finish your work early, you may choose a drawing prompt from the Early Finishers container to work on in your 3-ring binder (or sketchbook if you have one!)

RUBRICS -rubric for every project -keep in your 3-ring binder throughout the project -YOU WILL TURN THIS IN WITH YOUR PROJECT  grade yourself before turning in  if you do not turn this in with your project, 5 points will be deducted from your project grade

HEADING - headings for all work:  top right-hand corner:  Name  Date  Class Code (6A, 7B, etc.)

CLEANING UP -always clean up after yourself -clean properly  I will give demonstrations on how to properly clean up different types of materials -if materials are continuously cleaned improperly, we will have to use them the way they are (dirty, broken materials are not fun to use!) -we will spend the last few minutes of class cleaning up  some days we will clean up earlier if the materials we are using are messy and require more time! -I will dismiss your class, not the bell!

EMERGENCIES -Fire Alarm  line up quietly  out main doors, to the right -Code Red (Lock Down)  lock door, move to wall away from any windows, sit on floor, turn off lights, remain quiet and calm  I will take roll during any drill or emergency, so please listen carefully! -Tornado  stop working, get under desk and cover your head, remain calm and quiet

RESPECT - Respect yourself, respect others, and respect the classroom and the materials in it

LET’S HAVE A FANTASTIC SEMESTER!
