There are many responsibilities when being a probation officer. For example, one might be on call 24 hours a day, and it is their responsibility to keep these offenders on parole or probation under control and in check. To work as a probation officer one must have the following: -have a high school diploma or GED; -have at least a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or social work; -complete a state or federal training -pass written and oral exams in program; most states; -be at least 21 years old; -be in good physical and emotional condition; and pass a criminal background check.
