Section 1 Be able to explain how the cardiovascular system works. Be able to identify and describe the structure of the heart. Be able to describe the function of each structure of the heart. Understand how the heart beats and why heart rate changes. Be able to trace the path of blood flow. Know the vocabulary words in Section 1.

Section 2 Be able to describe the functions of the arteries, capillaries, and veins. Understand what causes blood pressure. Know the vocabulary words in Section 2.

Section 3 Name and describe the 4 components of blood. Be able to explain how blood typing works. Be able to explain how blood typing determines what blood a person can receive. Be able to explain the structure and function of the lympathic system. Know the vocabulary words in Section 3.

Section 4 Understand atherosclerosis. Know how cholesterol and other fatty materials relate to atherosclerosis. Be able to discuss hypertension. Know what can be done to prevent atherosclerosis and hypertension. Know the vocabulary words in Section 4.
