What are these?

Sensors and Real-time data collection

Sensors What are the sensors of today? What are the sensors of tomorrow? How are sensors changing?

Today’s Sensors Computer already take in information about the analogue world/track the analogue world using ▫Temperature sensors ▫Optical Sensors ▫Motion sensors As these technologies mature into ▫Eye ▫Ear ▫Other sense devices will work for computer networks

Two worlds now exist!! Analogue world (us) Digital world (Them) We visit them using any PC, digital device Now we are handing sensors to them and they are visiting us? What is this leading to?

Real time Data Collecting Data Logger Give examples of where traditionally used? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages What happens when used in real time? Where will they end up

Uses of real time data collection Parking Information Status of flights Estimated time of passengers arrival Estimated wait time (Traffic) Find ten more yourself! Where will they end up
