Dr. Josef Mengele By Samantha Henderson Who was Dr. Mengele and what were some of his experiments?

Who was Dr. Mengele? Josef Mengele was born on March 16 th In 1937 Mengele joined the Nazi Party. He volunteered to work at the concentration camp, Auschwitz. As a doctor, Mengele performed many crucial experiments to young children and Adults.

Dr. Mengele’s Experiments Dr. Mengele was very interested in many things about the human body. Some of his experiments caused death, or serious injury. For one of his experiments he wanted to see if you could change the color of the people’s eyes, so he injected harmful chemicals into their eyes. He also injected chloroform into their hearts, which made them suffer death, or making them be paralyzed for the rest of their lives. That’s why his nickname was the “Angel of Death.”

Twins Dr. Mengele had a huge interest on twins. He wanted all the Nazi’s to find a set of twins at the camp, so he could experiment with them. Some mothers tried to hide their twins, and other mothers would announce their twins to the Nazi’s. Every time Mengele had a set of twins he often called twins his “children.” Except, if the twins were at a young age, Mengele would let the mothers be with them for a few days. Twins often got special treatment, by being fed more often, and being allowed to play sports. The twins had no idea what was in store for them, until they were in the experiment lab ready to be tested on. Dr. Mengele had a huge interest on twins. What happened to Mengele after the War? After the war, Dr. Mengele was captured, but released by a U.S. detention center. After being released he went to Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil to stay in hiding. He stayed in those places until his death, he was supposed to have drowned. Annotated Link Number 1 1.) About.com is a fairly good website to find information. If you type in a topic you will receive two or more pages on the topic you choose. About.com will help you with almost anything you want. For example it will help you with travel, or school work. It helped me find the topic the twins in Auschwitz, and it gave me two pages of information on the subject. That’s why I like About.com.

Annotated Link Number 2 Google.com is a pretty good search engine to find certain things. I found most of my information on Google. Google gives you many choices on your subject. All of the choices are from different websites all over the internet. Google helped me find Dr. Mengele’s experiments. I chose the information from Wikipedia on Google. It came up with a lot of information, but some of the information was completely off subject. Although some information contained a lot of important facts. That’s why I chose Google.com to be one of my links.

Annotated Link number 3 Wikipedia is designed to help kids with research. There are positives and negatives to Wikipedia. The negatives are; people can go onto the Wikipedia and change any information they want. They can say for example the moon is made of Swiss cheese if they want to. The positives are; they can come up with two or more pages of wonderful information. Wikipedia helped me find two pages of information on Dr. Mengele that’s why I like Wikipedia as an information source.
