WORLD WAR II By Brian Schroeder

Battles Lots of battles took place in WWII Such as the Bataan Death March D-Day Iwo Jami (where the flag rising took place) And the Holocaust These are the 4 that I will be talking about

The start of WWII World War II started because the Germans would never let World War I end. Well, the war took a break for 21 years. The Germans regrouped and planned to attack the world again. Some people say that there is only one world war that the first one never ended.

Bataan Death March The Bataan Death March was a march that went 60 miles thru the Philippians. 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war captured by the Japanese were put in this march. They marched in a strait line. If you got out of line you would be bayoneted or shot. The same thing would happened if you tried to run.

The weapons used in WW II Many weapons were used in WWII Men on the ground used M1grand’s M1carbine, Colt M1911, Parabellum Luger P- 08, Bazooka, MG42, German Sten, and sniper rifles.  Other gun were in planes and tanks  Over all 40 different types of guns were used in WWII

Countries This war was a truly a world war. Over 43 different countries fought in this war. The war took place in one main continent that was Europe. In went into Asia,North America and Africa

Casualties The three country’s with the most people KIA (killed in action) Were U.S.S.R with 6,115,000 soldier's Germany with 3,250,000 soldier’s KIA And China with 1,324,516 soldier’s KIA The U.S.A only had 297,557 KIA Germany, China, and Poland had the most civilians killed

When D-day started D-day started on June 6, 1946 The Americans hit the beach of Normandy, France. On the first day 2,500 good guys got killed in action. That was minimal for an operation this size. Less then 300 of us were captured.

D-day A 50 mile stretch of France 160,000 men To fight Nazi and get France The Nazi’s planned for an attack like this But they planned for the attack to be farther down the coast. They were not very prepared for the attack

Secret weapons Pen gun----- this device shot a small bullet from a pen. Pencil shank---- a pencil with a hidden shank (small knife like thing) in it. Boot----What looks to be a normal boot but in the heel was a small compartment to hide messages.\ Plans in the pipe liner----a pipe with a compartment that you can store messages in. Match box camera----a camera disguise as a match box. Card tricks---- some decks of cards could folded over to reveal a map Many other secret thing were invented but I thought these were the coolest

Holocaust During the Holocaust 6,000,000 Jews got killed by Nazi’s in the Europe. Did you know Holocaust is another word for “sacrifice by fire.“ And that Germans thought the Jews were an alien threat. Jews and gypsies were put in concentration camps where they were forced to work with little to no pay. They also went into gas chambers and killed. There were things called ghettos. It was a closed in area that Jews, Gypsies, communists, political prisoners were kept. They were called “undesirables”

Iwo Jami Q- Was the famous flag the first or the second one? A- It was the second flag the first one was smaller it was used to say the hill was clear Q-Where is it located? A- It is a island near Japan Q-Why did they want the island? A- To fly to, the planes could only go to Japan They wanted to fly there refuel attack fly back.

Wonder drug !!!! In WWII a drug named penicillin saved hundreds of thousands of lives over WWII. It was used to treat many different wounds from gun shot to the common flu. Penicillin is still used to day in hospitals. It is the medicine given to treat Strep throat.

Hitler Hitler was a mean guy that wanted all people to follow him. He wanted to take over the world. Many attempts to take Hitler's life failed. Only one person ever succeed. That one person was Hitler himself. Hitler commented suicide in his bunker. He shot him self in his temple. Hitler’s wife died too. She also commented suicide but she poisoned her self. He wanted everybody to Have blond hair and blue eyes He didn't have blond hair or blue eyes

Aftermath After the war ended all the countries signed a peace treaty. There is no known third world war. Only a first and a second. Many good men died in the war, also many bad guys died too. Some countries stay scarred for life because they were once a great battle ground, or because they have evidence of a bombing raid. No countries can ever forget world war II.
