What will be doing in here? EXPECTATIONS

All grades based on student proficiency with the CCSS (Common Core State Standards) as adopted by CCSD. Assessments Skill application Constructed/written responses Standard scale: A B 89-80C 79-70D69-60F 55* * In compliance with the minimum F policy, all scores below 55% will be replaced with an F and a score equivalent to 55% GRADING

Assessments are aligned to the CCSS and evaluate proficiency within the established skill sets derived therein. Frequently, these skills sets span multiple subjects. Consequently, a single assignment will appear in multiple subject categories on a progress report. ASSESSMENT - EXAMPLE

All students will receive instruction from each of the 3 rd grade teachers. An approximate 3 week rotation minutes a day Science, social studies, & health ROTATION

Each student is required earn a set number of AR points each trimester, on their independent level. Points are earned by reading books and taking the accompanying AR quiz AT SCHOOL. Books are available from the school library Books are available from the public library Book levels can also be checked at AR COMMITMENT

This year we are asking families to purchase a class T- shirt for $6. The T-shirt will be used to identify our students during the following events: Field Trips Field Day Special grade-level activities GRADE LEVEL T-SHIRT

Families are asked to purchase a subscription to Scholastic Magazine for $6. This magazine is used in conjunction with CCSS to develop student non-fiction experiences, and increase individual student proficiency. Checks should be made out to David M Cox ES SCHOLASTIC MAGAZINE

Schools have seen an increase in food allergies and allergic reactions in the classroom. We respectfully ask that food items in the classroom be kept to a minimum. Birthday treats require prior notice to the teacher, and should be served in the lunch room or just prior to student dismissal. BIRTHDAYS, TREATS, & ALLERGIES

David M Cox ES operates in compliance with CCSD dress code, and it will be enforced in this classroom. No spaghetti straps Tanks should be 3” in width Shorts and skirts need to be as long as the tips of the fingers when arms are fully extended, or longer. Shoes need to have a heel strap and a solid sole. NO FLIP FLOPS Students found in violation of the stated dress code requirements will be sent to the office and parents will be contacted. DRESS CODE
