These shows have become one of the most popular kind of TV programmes, all over the world. Why do people take part in reality shows? A variety of reasons can be involved. In my opinion the basic reason is that people believe they can earn money without a big effort, only by winning a reality show. Some others want to become popular and be easily recognised. There is also a small amount of candidates who choose their participation in reality shows, as a way of meeting people and making friends. Why do people take part in reality shows? Reality shows are TV programmes about ordinary people who are filmed in real situations. They are people with good qualities and flaws, just like all of us. This does not sound fascinating, but the key to their success is exactly the ordinary profile of the candidates. Telespectators identify easily with the candidates. They see themselves in the candidates’ position on the TV screen. They can recognise common interests, such as music, clothes and decoration. I do not really like watching reality shows. Apart from considering them as boring, I disapprove of the fact that candidates expose their private life on the TV screen. Secrets are revealed sometimes in a shocking way for the audience. Another negative aspect is that candidates use every kind of means, even the most immoral ones, to achieve their goal. That is winning the prize, meaning the money. If one of my family members intended to take part in a reality show, I would definitely try to prevent him or her from this decision. I would try to make him or her change his or her mind, by emphasizing on the negative aspects of realities, telling him or her that he or she would become ridiculous. As far as I am concerned, I would never imagine myself in a reality show. That is not the place for me. I would never expose myself and especially my secrets in front of so many people…..
