International Accelerator Facility for Beams of Ions and Antiprotons at Darmstadt CBM Collaboration meeting Status Interim MoU J. Eschke, GSI Reasons for timely signing of Interim MoU by participating institutions and FAIR GmbH The purpose of the IMoU is to agree on the rules for the management of the CBM collaboration in the initial phase of CBM until the Technical Design Reports (TDRs) are written. Moreover the signatories express their intention to take over the responsibility for construction work packages for (one or more) Sub-Systems of the CBM experiment. Obligations of FAIR as the Host Laboratory, and of the CBM Institutes

International Accelerator Facility for Beams of Ions and Antiprotons at Darmstadt CBM Collaboration meeting Status Interim MoU J. Eschke, GSI CBM Interim Memorandum of Understanding: between FAIR GmbH and CBM collaboration content: 1.CBM organisation – management structure and collaboration 2.intended commitments of institutions for sub-systems in initial and construction phase  intended applications to funding agencies/ministries Article 2: Purpose of this IMoU 2.1 The purpose of this IMoU is to define the initial phase (until TDR) for each CBM sub-system, the programme of work to be carried out and the distribution of charges and responsibilities among the Parties for the execution of this work. It further sets out organisational, managerial and financial guidelines to be followed by the Parties. It defines the integration of the Sub-Systems into CBM as well as CBM common projects. 2.2 The initial phase encompasses the remaining research and development (R&D) work, engineering design and prototyping required for the submission of Technical Design Reports for the CBM Experiment. 2.3 Moreover the iMoU defines the intention of the participating institutions to take over responsibilities for the construction of the different sub-systems. The contributions will be (mainly) In-Kind. The participating institutions express their intention to provide corresponding construction funds or to submit funding applications to the ministries/funding agencies. 2.4 While all Parties have the firm intention to adhere to the terms of this IMoU, it is understood that this document is not legally binding.
