LEADER, GIF,EURATOM and other News 6 th PCC and 3 rd GB meeting of the LEADER project Karlsruhe November, 23 rd 2012 Alessandro Alemberti

LEADER STATUS MERIVUS joined the project – amendment accepted by EC MERIVUS working on SGTR exp. Facility and Spiral SG manufacturability ALL WPs shows good progress, most deliverables are expected to be issued by the end of March Extension requested (6 months) to EC due to delay in the experimental activities at Brasimone. RUSSIAN contacts: still on going with new scientific director of BREST Andrej Moyssev. We have still a chance to have a meeting with BREST technical people around next spring. It is important to start in some way. Next Meeting: if extension will be accepted I propose the end of May in Genoa to hold the last LEADER general meeting, PCC and GB. The date can be from of May – to be confirmed by .

GIF, EURATOM, other News (in a chronological order) GIF-LFR-PSSC meeting in Pisa – April 16 th 2012 – Main decisions A. Alemberti chairman of the LFR – PSSC Position paper to be written on LFR safety and issues to be loaded on GIF web Main revision of LFR-SRP to be prepared by end of Prepare paper for GIF Symposium on November 13 Prepare LFR GIF Road Map (done in July) ESNII Conference June 25 th 2012 – Bruxelles Focus on ENSII projects, ASTRID, MYRRHA, ALFRED, ALLEGRO. Declaration of interest in LFR development by Hungary representative INR-ENEA-ANSALDO meeting with DG Regio, June 29 th - Bruxelles Try to identify possibility of access for ALFRED to infrastructural funds. It is possible but: Timing of the project limited to 7 years Need to realize something that can be easily verified (with social impact)

Board – September 2012 Decision to focus on projects rather then technology. Decision for prioritarization of initiatives, main criteria: availability of funds Main discussion about contribution of ESNII to SNE-TP SRA BREST press conference: September 2012, ROSATOM declares that BREST construction will start soon and the plant will be operational in 2020 (fuel reprocessing included). Site is in the TOMSK region where competences on reprocessing are available. SVBR press release: October 2012, AKME announces the signature of a MoU for the collaboration of Czech Republic main companies for SVBR.

Presentation of EC position: no more calls like FP7, funding to be allocated to already running projects. Distribution of the DRAFT of the SRA for comments. EURATOM-ROSATOM meeting: October 2012 Bruxelles New BREST Scientific Coordinator – Andrej Moyssev (IPPE and NIKIET) Consideration of LEADER-BREST CooA I will ask again about the status in few weeks ROSATOM confirms commitment for BREST and BN-800 GIF-LFR-PSSC meeting – November 7-9 Tokyo Russian development going on two lines LFR and SFR. Next meeting in Paris March at the FR conference Korean representative will be invited as observer
