Chapter 1 Peggy Sue We were selling our house and going to get a boat so that we could sail across the Atlantic Ocean. The boat was called Peggy Sue. The people that went on the boat with me were my mummy and my daddy and my dog Stella.

Chapter 2 water, water everywhere We went sailing of around the world. for most of the time we were soaked to the skin.

Chapter 3 Ship’s Log I got up at five in the morning. I was in my cockpit and no one else was awake. We travelled past Africa and Brazil. I played football in Brazil! We went on safari in South Africa and saw elephants. A terrible thing happened! Stella and I fell off the boat into the cold ocean. I was not wearing my life jacket.

Chapter 4 Gibbons and ghosts It was a dark night Stella and I were in the cold ocean. The waves were splashing and the lights on Peggy Sue were going away because Peggy Sue was going away in the distance.

Chapter 5 I, Kensuke I saw a man he was no taller than me. He was as old as a man I have ever seen. He wore nothing else except for tattered breeches and a large knife in his belt.

Chapter 6 Abunai I got up on to my feet. I was waving frantically. I was shouting at the top of my voice. I was screaming for them to stop. When my throat was getting soar I had to stop.

Chapter 7 All that silence said I smelt vinegar I thought I was at home. My father always brought home fish and chips on a Friday. Dad loved soaking his chips in vinegar. The whole house stank of vinegar all evening.

Chapter 8 Everyone dead in Nagasaki I was overjoyed. I found a part of me that I thought I had lost forever. We sometimes had fish for dinner. A bomb fell on Nagasaki.

Chapter 9 The night of the turtles There fell us a long and aching silence. It wasn’t that we didn’t speak we did but we no longer talked to one another as we had before.

Chapter 10 Killer men come It was raining so I stayed in my cave. I longed for the howl of the gibbons instead of the roar of the rain on the trees outside.
