UW-ACE Faculty and Student Survey UW-ACE Student and Faculty Survey: (Very) Brief Overview ITAC Presentation on June 28 th 2007 Andrea Chappell, IST

Disclaimer and Credit This is very preliminary, and much more analysis to do! Vivian Schoner and Gail Spencer of CTE deserve credit for almost all of the work, and will work on the upcoming analysis. A Look into E-Classrooms

UW-ACE Surveys Surveys run in April Separate Faculty and Student surveys, with some cross-over questions. Previous Faculty Survey: During ANGEL pilot in S2004. Previous Student Survey: Fall 2005.

A Look into E-Classrooms Profiles Students 2083 responses of the 22,226 students in UW- ACE in W07 (9.4%) female; 760 male; 1 undecided? Faculty 92 responses of the 666 instructors in UW-ACE in W07 (13.8%). 44 female; 44 male; 4 undecided? 39% Arts, 20% Math, 17% Sci, 16% Eng, 4% AHS

A Look into E-Classrooms Learning Activities Questions Ask same question of student and instructor to see differences in perceptions. Overview today: Helps learn new skills Reduces time spent on text or notes Helps better analyze/apply key points Integrates well with other course components

A Look into E-Classrooms Ease of Use Questions Ask same question of student and instructor to see differences in perceptions. Overview today: What seems to work well. What didn’t.

What worked well Most tools worked well (“agree” and “strongly agree” combined) Internal Instructors 62%; Students 58% Online discussions: 80%, 72% Feedback 69%, 64% Etc. A Look into E-Classrooms

What didn’t work well? Gradebook, for instructors! We already knew that.

Recommending UW-ACE 90% of instructors would recommend UW- ACE to a colleague! A Look into E-Classrooms

Lots more to do Much more analysis by Vivian and Gail. Need to think about the “Not Applicable” data. ITAC: Think about what you might ask in results of the data. Another presentation, later? A Look into E-Classrooms
