Zacchaeus Luke 19:1-10

Jesus was going through Jericho.

A rich tax collector called Zacchaeus lived in Jericho.

Zacchaeus was curious, like the rest of the waiting crowd. He wanted to see this Jesus.

But Zacchaeus had a problem. As he was a very short man, he could not get a good view because of the other people.

However, Zacchaeus was a clever man. I know! I will run ahead and climb up into a sycamore tree to get a look at this Jesus.

When Jesus arrived, he looked up and said, Zacchaeus, hurry down! I want to stay with you today!

Zacchaeus was shocked, but pleased. You are very welcome to my house, Jesus!

Everyone else began to complain: This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him.

Later that day Zacchaeus stood up and he said to Jesus, I will give half of my property to the poor. And I will now pay back four times as much to everyone I have ever cheated.

Then Jesus said to Zacchaeus, Today you and your family have been saved, because you are a true son of Abraham.

Jesus spoke: The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.
