For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.”

“I R ESOLVE TO G LORIFY G OD !” “ Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.” 1 Peter 4:1,2

“I R ESOLVE TO G LORIFY G OD !” “ For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.” 1 Peter 4:3

“I R ESOLVE TO G LORIFY G OD !” “ In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.” 1 Peter 4:4,5

“I R ESOLVE TO G LORIFY G OD !” “Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:9,10

“I R ESOLVE TO G LORIFY G OD !” “ If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11

Arm Yourselves With the Mind of Christ—4:1 Arm - equip oneself with the same insight - (BDAG) - Aorist Imperative – decisive action at a given point Put on the attitude and mindset of Jesus – [ Faith, Courage, Hope ] - (1 Peter 3:18; Philippians. 2:5-10; Romans 13:12-14; Proverbs 23:7 ) Cease from sin - If our attitude and thinking is like Jesus' - then doing what we ought will naturally follow – ( Hebrews 5:7-9; 12:1,2; Ezekiel 18:31; Romans 12:1-3; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:1-10 )

Not Living to Please Men— But God—I Peter 4:2,3 Do Not live for self or man – (lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries) such living a waste of time and life! Ephesians 4:17-24; 5:8-18 Resolve to strive to please God in all we do – Unwavering commitment to Him and His church! ( Ecclesiastes 12:13; Romans 12:1,2; Colossians 3:17; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 John 2: ) From This Day Forward!

Willing to Suffer Reproach From the Ungodly— 4:4-6 “They think it strange” – old acquaintances are now persecutors. A changed life provokes hostility from those who reject the gospel! ( Matthew 5:10-12; Acts 13:45; 1 Peter 2:12; 3:16) “They will give an account.” – ( 2 Corinthians 5:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 2 Peter 2:12; Jude 10 ) The gospel gives true life —The ungodly may condemn—but God gives us life! ( 1 Peter 2:11; 3:19; Hebrews 11:13 )

Taking My Spiritual Duties Very Seriously—4:7-11 Ready for judgment – ( John 5:28,29; 12:48,49; 2 Peter 3:9-11) “Serious and watchful in prayer.” – ( 1 Peter 5:8; Matthew 25:13; Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2 ) Fervent love —( 1 Peter 1:22; Colossians 3:14; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; Proverbs 10:12; James 5:20 ) Be hospitable without grumbling - ( Romans 12:13; Hebrews 13:2; Philippians 2:14 ) Diligent in service as good stewards — ( Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 4:2 )
