Agent-Based Simulation of Organization Co-Evolution Natalie Wood

Why this topic, and why me? Interest in ABM ignited from previous module Modeling and Simulation of Natural Systems Intrigued by evolutionary approach Decent programming skills Also enjoy writing!

Background literature Evolution of organizational practices is of increasing interest Darwinian metaphor uses routines as replicators and organization and identities of individuals as interactors Organizations benefit from encouraging positive routines ABMs are useful tools in investigating organizational psychology and behaviours Dermot Breslin (2010), Interpreting futures through the multi-level co-evolution of organizational practices Hughes, H. P. N., Clegg, C. W., Robinson, M. A. and Crowder, R. M. (2012), Agent-based modelling and simulation: The potential contribution to organizational psychology.

The research questions The behavior of interest is the decision making process at different levels in the organization Can an agent based approach be developed to accurately model this behavior? What can we learn about the influencing change of behavior?

My approach I would : develop and implement an ABM compare the model to current research data Investigate different influences on the model

Required team skills Interest in GPGPU Good coding skills Experience with ABMs Good writing skills Curious and driven
