General Project is compulsory for an IT Honours degree Module code –RIS692: If failed any of the 3 parts in 2010 –RIS693: Register for Honours for 1 st time in 2011

Duration Project is a year module –Must be completed in one year –Can only register for it in the beginning of the year Careful consideration when to register –Full time (1 year) Honours degree Register & complete project in that one year –Part time (2 years) Honours degree Choice to register for project in 1 st or 2 nd year Consider whether you have a topic yet or not

Duration Consequences –Must complete project in 1 year (year in which you register for it), –else you fail the module and have to re-register for it again the next year

Topic Choice of Topic –Identify need around you for a computerised system from your own experience, from industry or from your family & friends –Should have a client for which you design the system –Scope – should have difficulty level higher than pure and simple database / web application (the latter = 3 rd year level) –Refer to Guidelines document

RIS692 If you failed any 1 or more of the 3 parts of RIS692 in 2010 …

RIS692 If you failed XNA: –Re-register for RIS692 –Do NOT register for RIS620 & RIS621, but –Attend classes for these two separate XNA modules for the whole year (1 st & 2 nd semester) –Year mark will be calculated for XNA at year-end –This mark will be combined with your kept (pass) Research Methodology and Project marks for a final mark for RIS692

RIS692 If you failed Research Methodology: –Re-register for RIS692 –Do NOT register for RIS626, but –Attend classes for this new Research Methodology module in the 1 st semester –The mark for this module will be combined with your kept (pass) XNA and Project marks for a final mark for RIS692

RIS692 If you failed the Project: –Re-register for RIS692 –Do NOT register RIS693, but –Carry on with your previous project topic or submit a new proposal –You have to submit the project no later than October 2011 for assessment during a project day –The mark for this project will be combined with your kept (pass) XNA and Research Methodology marks for a final mark for RIS692

RIS692 Remember … –This is a year module and should have been completed within a year
