Sysco Healthcare April 20, 2010 Overview 1.Overview 2.Historical Data and challenge 3.Present Data 4.Compliance 5.Key learning and next steps 6.Compliance

Historical Data and Challenge items identified for review; 2,680 were identified as having no Trans fat; leaving 2,755 for data to be gathered 2.All vendors were requested to supply nutritional data on their products and manufacturers had to be educated on the urgency of this request 3.Due to the central manufacture of some products by various vendors, change to comply with the BC legislation was to be slow 4.Evaluation took 3 months, reviewing specifications with dietitians and operations 5.In the initial stage, nutritional data was needed for all produce but later withdrawn

Historical Data and Challenge 1.65 products were identified as not complying with the new guidelines 2.New products were identified as replacement options 3.Products were identified as having to be removed from our menu base as no product could be found that complied with the guideline 4.Education of the front line to have an understanding of the legislation and it was their responsibility and not that of the distributor to understand these guidelines 5.Work with health and wellness government agency as they developed the guidelines

Present Data 1.Rationalization of the product base was identified as a requirement moving forward items are currently used which need to comply which is a reduction 161, April 19 a further reduction of 79 items and May 1 a further reduction of Access to a limited amount of product reduces the stress on the front line and allows them ease of mind that they are able to comply to any new legislation 4.As manufacturers meet the establish standards, products are replaced to bring back previous established goals on quality, portion size and special diets 5.Work with health and wellness government agency to keep them informed on our current product base and that we comply with the guidelines

Compliance 1.Sodexo currently has completed all central registry requirements and is in compliance of the guidelines with back up documentation from the BC Health and Wellness 2.Continuous education of our front line in support of client needs

Key Learning and Next Steps 1.Changes in government legislation needs an open mind and creative thinking 2.New products need to be included in the change over 3.Work with the government agency as they too are learning as you do with the new legislation and guidelines 4.Front line education is on going
