How do I get into College?  Know the different types of schools: -Vocational/Trade Schools -Community Colleges -Universities

Vocational/Trade Schools  6weeks to 2 years  Certificate/ License  Open Enrollment  Focus on one type of skill/profession  Non-Transferable  Difference between Public and Private ITT, Westwood College, UTI LA Trade Tech, Pacoima Skills Center, North Valley Occupational Center

Community College  2 years  Degree: Associative of Arts  Open Enrollment  General Education  Transferable  Inexpensive: $46 a unit (46x15=$690) LA Mission College, LA Pierce College, LA Valley College, Moorpark College, Glendale College, College of the Canyons,…

Universities  4 years  Bachelors Degree  Eligible students v. Competitive students  Application deadlines and requirements  Eligible v. Competitive Universities

Public California Universities California State U. (CSUN, CSULA,…) 23 campuses Minimum 2.00 GPA Accept top 1/3 of graduating class Require Application: Due 11/30 Medium- Extra Large SAT or ACT required University of Calif. (UCLA, UCSB,…) 8 undergrad campuses Minimum 3.00 GPA Accept top 11% of graduating class Require Application: Due 11/30 Medium-Extra Large 2 SATs required

Out of State Universities  There are both PUBLIC and PRIVATE out of state technical schools, community colleges, colleges and universities  Private Programs are the same cost for students who come from outside the state  Public Programs charge additional monies to students who come from other states  They each have different requirements, costs, deadlines and eligibility: Research these things carefully
