USD Copley Library Re-Class Project Kanat MANAV GBA 573 Summer 2003
Project Overview Two different types of cataloging: 1) Dewey decimal classification. 2) Library of congress system. U.S libraries are switching from DDC to LC. USD Copley Library Decided to change its cataloging system to LC in January 1997.
Problems With DDC Call numbers are too long and too confusing. Copley library was one of the few libraries that was using DDC. High costs.

Expected Benefits Ease of using for Library Patrons. Purchasing books that are already classified. Purchasing books that are already labeled. NO extra costs.
Expected Costs January 2003 to August 2004
Final Analysis The project is moving faster. Earlier finish of the project. Under budget. Cutting Costs.
