Evaluation question five Eden Goodall

We used a variety of different platforms to attract our audience. As our target audience is men in there early twenties to their late thirties we decided to make twitter and Facebook our main platform. On Facebook we will create a Facebook page and set the interests as ‘Thriller’ so that people who are interested in the thriller genre will easily be able to find the page by simply searching for ‘thriller’ and hopefully when one person likes the page, their friends will find it too and it will work like a word of mouth campaign. We will also use a twitter page to create buzz as we will promote our tweets onto the timelines of the people who are interested in thriller films, this will hopefully boost the followers that the page has and boost the buzz. We will also be using the actors twitter pages to do occasional promotion tweets for their fans to see and use a photo social media site like Instagram to post behind the scenes snaps to intrigue the audience. This will include pictures of the actors together and video and poster snippets. We may hold competitions so that fans will be able to unlock snippets of the film poster/trailer everyday for a week, this will therefore get the audience more excited.

As well as using social media sites we will also be using traditional non interactive forms of marketing like billboards around the UK and the US, in the main cities like London, New York and around Los Angeles. We will also put small posters around towns and on the side of bus shelters so people will see the poster everyday when they walk to work and the more they see the poster the more they will want to go to the cinema and see the film. On the next slide there is a mock up of a potential film poster. As well as this we will be advertising on major television shows, like the final of reality shows like the xfactor, celebrity big brother and I’m a celebrity. The cast will not be in these shows but they will attend events like awards ceremonies like The Oscars, The Grammys and other major award shows where they will talk to presents about the film and create a buzz for the whole world to see. The main cast will also be interviewed on late night chat shows like Alan Carr in the UK and Jimmy Fallon in the US, they may also be on morning chat shows like This Morning in the UK and Good Morning America, this will be the same all around the world.

This is the potential film poster for my thriller film ‘Monotony Reigns’ mentioned in the previous slide.

The Unique selling point of our film ‘Monotony Reigns’ is “Mind, Body. 2 Paths. 2 Choices’ we used this as our unique selling point because we want our film to be quite mysterious and keep people guessing. This quote, featured in the film poster, pretty much simply describes the film and what its all about. This quote should hopefully want to get the audience to search for more of a synopsis of the film and this is where our facebook, twitter and instagram pages will come into full effect because people will be searching and so it will potentially boost the followers on the accounts and therefore boosting the box office.

On the 30 th of January we presented our opening title sequence for our film ‘Monotony Reigns’ and we got some feedback from the class. We had lots of comments and a few that came up many times were that the titles were difficult to read, there was very little acting and that there is a lack of characters which seemed ‘weird’. We have taken all these comments into consideration and we will be changing the sections that the class felt needed to be adjusted, for example we would change the font of the titles so that it is easier to read and we will also take into consideration adding more actors in throughout the film as I feel that the lack of characters in the opening title sequence adds to the mystery. The feedback we received also shows that we need to do more suggestions from fans and select target audience before the film is ready to be released, so that it is near perfect. I think that the audience feedback was very helpful because it’s a good way of finding out how we can improve things in the future.
