Restoring Hope Refugee Week 15 th till 19 th of October Refugee Week Mass – 17 th of October 11:30am

Focus... SIP From the School Improvement Plan That a shared understanding of social justice is developed

Activity Each table has a large piece of Butcher’s paper. As a team, please document on the paper what you believe our school does in relation to Social Justice.

Belief in the inherent dignity of the human person is the foundation of all Catholic social teaching. Human life is sacred, and the dignity of the human person is the starting point for a moral vision for society. This principle is grounded in the idea that the person is made in the image of God. The person is the clearest reflection of God among us. This teaching rests on one basic principle: individual human beings are the foundation, the cause and the end of every social institution. Mother and Teacher, 219

Ten themes of Social Justice give expression to the human worth and dignity of each individual made in the image and likeness of God. These are: Respect for the human person Preferential option for the poor Political and economic rights Promotion of the common good Subsidiarity Political participation Economic justice Stewardship Global solidarity Promotion of Peace.

As Jesus is central to our lives we are inspired to lead and build a Christian community. We encourage all members of our community to live life according to the gospel values, with the Good Samaritan as our inspiration and role model. Each person and the process of education is valued to allow our community; to strive for excellence, to become competent life-long learners and effective communicators. Vincent Van Gogh, 1890 Our Vision What does our Vision say about Social Justice?

Restoring Hope – Refugee Week 15 th till 19 th of October Ten themes of Social Justice Respect for the human person Preferential option for the poor Political and economic rights Promotion of the common good Subsidiarity Political participation Economic justice Stewardship Global solidarity Promotion of Peace.
