Oral Feedback Reducing the workload and maximising the impact of giving feedback

Problems with relying on my previous method of written feedback (as I found it)  Time consuming  Correcting grammar, spelling, layout… more than I should be  Too much writing for them to take in  Relied upon simply what was written without thinking through  Reduced the effectiveness of our one-to-one feedback  Same mistakes repeated over and over again  Difficult to explain complex ideas/iron out misconceptions etc

Making the recording…

3. Attach voice recording file to via phone to personal address (or to school address, just make sure you take your personal off the bottom!)

4. Download it and save it into a folder 5. Attach it to an as with any other file… and send

“I sometimes find it difficult to take stuff in that's being said to me so being able to replay it was good- I actually wrote down the gist of what you said so that I could go through what I had and hadn't changed, like a tick list.” “ A lot easier to correct mistakes and make improvements as I could pause and rewind which meant I was sure I hadn't missed anything” I made notes on it expanding on what you'd written, which really helped and gave me a clear view of what to do. “I was able to access it on my phone which made it all much more convenient ”

“The problem I find with it is that its sometimes hard to tell what part of the coursework that's being talked about” “The only negative I found was that if I didn't understand it I couldn't ask you straight away what you meant by something, but you were always there to ask next time I saw you” “You can't directly ask questions about the stuff you're saying as you're saying it, but that can be resolved by going to see you/ ing back so isn't really a negative!”
