Contributions Potential vaccine for human AIDS Research on glaucoma and cataract surgery Furthered the understanding of the function of neurons, specific functions of nerve cells, functional organization of the brain and mechanisms of nerve impulse transmission How humans recover from traumatic injuries or strokes

Characteristics Cats have revealed the pathways that send the information from the eye to the brain which has helped research by understanding of eye disorders. Cats suffer from hearing loss with a result of exposure to high level noise. This helps research to study the effects on noise and apply it to humans. Diabetic cats can help with human diabetic research also. It gives a better understanding of the protein that hinders insulin productions in both cats and humans

Benefits Diabetes research Eye and Ear research Toxoplasmosis research Immune deficiencies research Nervous system research
