(S T. G REGORY, THE BISHOP OF N YSSA )  How can I not love You? You are the one who loved me … so You sacrificed Your life for the sake of the flock, who are the subject of your care.

1. I NTO THE DEEP NOT THE SHALLOW  When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “ Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing;..Lk 5:4,5

2. D URING THE DAY NOT THE NIGHT  5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing ; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”

3. D IVINE POWER NOT HUMAN EXPERIENCE  5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing ; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” Lk 5:5

4. G REAT NUMBER NOT NOTHING  6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. Lk 5:6

(S T. C LEMENT OF R OME )  Let us therefore, conscientiously gathering together in harmony, cry to Him earnestly, as with one mouth, that we may be made partakers of His great and glorious promises.

5. H E CAME FOR SINNERS NOT FOR RIGHTEOUS  8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” Lk 5:8

6. F ISHERMAN OF LIFE NOT DEATH  10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” Lk 5:10

7. F ORSAKING NOT TAKING  11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. Lk 5:11
