‘Prevent’ Teaching and Learning Resource © Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and Cleveland Police The Task You are going to watch a DVD that has been produced by Cleveland Police, which examines the difficult topic of extremism and violent extremism. The Police hope that this DVD will help to stop young people from getting involved with extremist groups and help young people to identify and possibly prevent acts of violent extremism. You are to critically evaluate the DVD.

Each person in the group will be given a different task whilst watching the DVD. Person 1: watch out for stereotyping and where producers have been careful not to stereotype Person 2: watch out for issues linked to Britishness Person 3: watch out for issues linked to immigration Person 4: watch out for issues linked to extremism and violent extremism Person 5: watch out for issues linked to racism Person 6: think about media techniques that are used
