Book Care

Have clean hands when when handling books.

Turn pages at the top corner then lift the page. then lift the page.

Don’t lick your fingers to turn the pages.

Use a bookmark to keep your place. Never use a pencil to keep your place. Don’t lay the book open pages down. Don’t dog-ear the corners.

Keep books in a safe place. Keep them out of reach of little children. Away from pets. Off the floor.

Keep library books looking nice. Do not write, draw or color in the books. Keep books dry on rainy days. Keep food and drinks away from books.

More ways to keep books nice. Don’t read in the bathtub. Don’t use books as coasters. Don’t remove or mark on bar codes or book jackets.

Special rules. If you find a tear in a library book, show it to the librarian, so she can fix it with special book tape. Just say “NO!” Don’t loan your books to others.

Carry your book safely. Hug it.
