What Is RSS? Adapted from Stephanie Quilao & Wikipedia It can take hours going to visit every single website and blog you enjoy  RSS Feed: get all the headlines of the most current stories from all your favorite websites and blogs in one place

RSS Defined RSS is “Really Simple Syndication”, an XML format that was created to syndicate news and to share content on the web. XML is the envelope that wraps content for automatic delivery via an RSS feed

RSS: How to.. Suppose you have 50 sites and blogs that you like to visit regularly. Going to visit each website and blog everyday could take you hours. With RSS, you can “subscribe” to a website or blog, and get “fed” all the new headlines from all of these 50 sites and blogs in one list

Subscribing to RSS feeds To “subscribe” to a website or blog’s RSS feed means that you are telling that website or blog, “Yes please. Send me your story headlines.” If the headline looks interesting to you, all you have to do is click on the headline and you’ll be sent to the whole story.

RSS to subscribe to a website: click the RSS symbol or “Subscribe to our RSS feed” Subscribe to: Posts (Atom)Posts (Atom) the orange square with white radio waves is the industry standard for RSS and Atom feeds

RSS Formats: RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, Atom.. RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. Examples: RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0, Atom..

RSS Feed Readers: Web Applications & Client Software Web Applications RSS content can be read using software called a "feed reader" or an "aggregator.“ (Current browsers can also be used to read RSS feeds)

RSS Feed Readers: Web based Web based aggregators are applications that reside on remote servers and are typically available as Web applications such as Google Reader or Bloglines. Web applicationsGoogle ReaderBloglines Because the application is available via the Web, it can be accessed anywhere by a user with an Internet connection.Web

RSS Feed Readers: Client Software Client software aggregators are installed applications designed to collect Web feeds and group them together using a user-friendly interface. The graphical user interface of such applications often closely resembles that of popular clients

RSS Feed Readers: Client Software FeedviewFeedview, a Firefox extension (cross- platform) Mozilla Thunderbird (cross-platform) NewsFireNewsFire (Mac OS) FeedDemonFeedDemon (Windows) Windows Live MailWindows Live Mail (Windows)

RSS as Live Bookmarks Safari, Firefox, IE7 allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds through the browser, and it’s called “live bookmarking”.  you only have access to your RSS list from the computer you created the bookmarks on
