Plans to restore crumbling Colosseum cause rumblings in Rome By Brady & Anthony

What is happening In March, Restorers are going to start a $33 million restoration project of the nearly 2,000 year old Colosseum. Their plans include cleaning the outside, rebuilding the underground chambers, adding new gating, moving visitor service stations outside of the building, and increasing video security. Many people do not approve of this process including people in the Restorers Association of Italy. Italian law states that the restorers can restore things like artwork but not architecture.

Brady’s Opinion I think that it is good that they are restoring the Colosseum. The Colosseum is a major tourist attraction that has up to 2 million visitors a year. I think this project will help preserve this monument for more generations to enjoy.

Anthony’s Opinion I do not trust the workers and think that they may damage the Colosseum. I think mostly though, that this history should be kept how it is. I do not trust the workers and think that they may damage the Colosseum. I think mostly though, that this history should be kept how it is.
