Practical 1 (2012) Move actor around

Objective Able to move actor to walk forward to a particular position Able to move actor backward to the original position Understand the meaning of key frame in an animation Able to add key frame Able to make actor to rotate as required

Concept (Frame, keyframe) Frame – Animation consists of many frames Key frame is the frame that there is any changes – Including Position (x, y, Z coordinates) Rotation position (x y, z axis) Other in between frame would be generated automatically to complete the changes in between key frames.

Concept (keyframe) Keyframe Indicates by a dot in Timeline Actor would perform automatically from one keyframe to another

Concept (Move, Transform) Actions: – Move Walk forward run – Transform Move position – Enter coordinate – Use move button Indicate in time line

Concept – check action perform Check action perform – Timeline or – Press Action check selector

Concept – action perform Action display in yellow region in the time line Press arrows to jump to next/ previous action

Step 1: Start the motion Drag the timeline to around 2 s

Step 2: Start moving Right click actor Jean Select Move -> Move forward Click at a point around 5 divisions ahead Note: it take ~ 5s 5 divisions

Step 3: Back Make Jean to move back to original position Note: take another 5s

Step 4: Add key frame Make sure to select the actor Go to the transform menu Enter the required value and press enter

Step 5: Face forward Make Jean walk forward a little bit by clicking the forward position very close to own position

Step 5: Face forward After moving to new position Change rotate Z value to 0

Step 6: Specify Jack’s starting time / position In time line Switch on Jack’s time line

Step 6: Specify Jack’s starting time / position Switch on Transform track ( if off) by clicking the transform flip Right click and copy the transformation information at the first frame

Step 6: Specify Jack’s starting time / position Paste to the frame that – Jack start to move

Step 7: Perform Jack’s movement Starting from that frame Make Jack walk and turn just as Jane does
