EXPLORE THE WORLD. START WITHIN. Moving to Moodle Bellarmine University’s Experience

EXPLORE THE WORLD. START WITHIN. Move to Moodle In the Spring of 2013, Bellarmine University made the decision to switch its LMS from Blackboard to Moodle, and a Moodle Transition Team was formed to lead the transition. During the 2013/2014 academic year, the team implemented a four phase strategy to test and modify the LMS as well as train faculty members to use Moodle.

EXPLORE THE WORLD. START WITHIN. Fall 2014 Update After a one-year transition period when both Blackboard and Moodle were available, Moodle became our sole LMS on August 1, During the fall semester 324 instructors and 3,135 students were using Moodle in 238 active courses. We conducted 28 Moodle workshops for faculty. The workshop topics included basic features, gradebook, and assignments. All workshop handouts were posted online. In the Fall 2014 Faculty Technology Survey when respondents reported their satisfaction with Moodle support service, the results were: – 42% very good – 32% good – 11% neutral – 6% poor – 2% very poor – 5% didn’t answer

EXPLORE THE WORLD. START WITHIN. Spring 2015 Update Moodle system numbers increased to 520 instructors and 4,083 students. We conducted 12 Moodle workshops for faculty during this semester. New workshops and handouts were added on using quizzes and taking attendance in Moodle.
