No right to copy

16 year old Christian Lopez one day decided enter a competition for the most beautiful piece of artwork, but the problem was that he had no idea what to draw. To help him find some ideas he looked up some photographs and found the perfect one for him. The photograph was taken by a photographer named Julius Ayala. It took Christian about one week to get the whole painting done and ready to go. On August 7 th he turned in his artwork and little did he know that he broke the photograph copyright law. The Beginning

Monetary Penalty The court may receive an award of statuary damages up to $150,000. In either case, defendants can be charged up to $250,00 for each offense committed. The day he finds out what he had done he has a possibility of serving time in jail for up to 10 years. It is possible to serve a large amount of these sentences in house arrest or probation.

Lessons learned A lesson learned to those who know the teenager could now know that in the future to never “copy” or take the ideas of others because you may never know what had just been done. Also, to always obey copyright laws.

Ending A couple important copyright terms that I have learned are the following: -Copyright Infringment -Copyright terms or periods -Legal definition of copyright -Fair use.
