Aim of ENERGY The development of a new theory- and evidence-based multi-component intervention scheme for youth… ….ready to be implemented across Europe promoting the adoption or continuation of health behaviors that contribute to a healthy energy balance. …school-based and family-involved.

Why ENERGY? systematic evidence-based step wise development cross European analysis in existing data sets and in newly collected data careful secondary analyses -> mediators and moderators focus on school AND family environments focus on the potential of financial/economical intervention approaches multidisciplinary approach by a multidisciplinary team development of a multi-component intervention strategy applicable to different European settings and different target groups involvement of SMEs and international health promotion organisations

Youth year olds - transition childhood – adolescence = critical period - second target group: parents = major influence on life style behaviors, - school-based interventions often fail to target/involve home environments
