The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length. whatisrelayhttp:// whatisrelay)

Throughout this semester I have done other community projects such as: Volunteering at the local Valdosta Boys and Girls Club Donating clothes and shoes to local homeless shelters Help tutor kids in math and reading at Valdosta Middle School
Volunteering at the local Boys and Girls Club was a great way for me to gain experience in mentoring little children. I was able to help kids follow the right track and stay focused in school.
Every time I get the chance to clean out my closet, I always donate at least one medium size trash bag full of clothes and shoes. I love giving the needy clothes and shoes, because knowing that I can help provide that for them allows me to appreciate community service.
I did not realize how fun and helpful community service is until this year. Being in the Freshman Year experience has allowed me to see that helping out my community and other organizations will benefit me in the future as well as helping me feel humble about my life. I look forward to the many community service projects that are yet to come!
