The Human Body and Nutrition Part 2 of 3 The Respiratory and Circulatory Systems Abney Elementary Mrs. Delaup

What is the main part of the respiratory system? 1. The main part of the respiratory system is the lungs.

What is the job of the Respiratory System? 2. The job of the Respiratory System is to provide oxygen to the body and remove carbon dioxide.

3. Where does air go when you breathe it in? Air enters your body through your nose and mouth. It goes down your trachea to your lungs. As you breathe in, your chest gets bigger and your lungs fill with air.

4. What do we breathe in and what do we breathe out? We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide.

5. What are the man parts of the Circulatory system? The main parts of the Circulatory System are the heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries.

6. What is the job of the Circulatory System? The job of the Circulatory System is to carry blood to and from body cells.

7. What is the job of the heart? The heart is a muscle that pumps blood through your blood vessels to all parts of your body.

8. How big is the heart? Your heart is about as big as your fist.

9. Describe the heart. The heart is very strong and works all the time, resting only between beats.

10. What is a vein? Veins are the large blood vessels that return the blood to your heart.

11. What does blood do? Blood moves nutrients throughout your body and fights infection.

12. What does exercise do for your heart and lungs? Get plenty of exercise to keep your heart and lungs strong.

13. What do proteins found in food do? Proteins build and repair body tissues and supplies energy to the body. Vegetable sources of protein, such as beans, nuts, and whole grains, are excellent choices, and they offer healthy fiber, vitamins and minerals. The best animal protein choices are fish and poultry.
