EXAMS Triple Science ‘Double’ Science All exams are taken at the end of the two year course (at the end of Year 11). Each GCSE has 3 written papers and a piece of coursework. Science A GCSE. COURSEWORK Each GCSE course has a controlled assessment (sometimes called an ISA). This accounts for 25% of each GCSE. They are carried out in class and there are three available to complete. The best mark from those goes forward to the exam board.
HOW CAN YOUR CHILD BE SUPPORTED? Provide a quiet place to study. Encourage them to constantly review their work throughout the year. Get a revision guide. Listen to advice about other forms of revision – BBC Bitesize; My GCSE Science on You Tube etc. Use old exam questions / papers to practise exam technique. Use the revision clubs; Chemistry on Monday; Physics on Tuesday; Biology on Thursday.
