Blood spatter BY: JUSTIN GRANADOS

Forensic science  Forensic science is the practical application of science to the matters of the law.

What does a forensic scientist do?  In criminal law forensics science can help prove guilt or innocence of the defendant. In civil actions forensics can help resolve a broad spectrum of legal issues through the identification, analysis and evaluation of physical evidence.

Blood spatter analysis  Is the interpretation of bloodstains at a crime scene in order to recreate the actions caused the blood shed. Analysis examine the size, shape, and distribution, and location of the blood stains to form opinions about what or did not happen.

How to become a blood spatter analysis It requires a meticulous and a thorough understanding of the properties of blood and the human body. Anatomy plays a large role as it pertains to arterial flow and the behavior of blood and after its leaves the body. Education- generally must posses a bachelors degree usually in criminal justice, particularly forensic science. Candidates without a bachelors degree must hold an associates degree plus two years of job related experience. Blood spatter candidates with only a high school diploma must posses a job related experience such as criminalist, crime scene investigator or homicide investigator.

What type of evidence do I work with?  Blood drains sample can be collected for blood analysis by cutting away stained surfaces or materials photo graphic' and drying padding stained objects. The tools for collecting blood spatter evidence usually include high quality cameras sketching materials, cutting instruments and evidence packaging.

Money average and Work Place  Blood spatter analysis usually make between 47,600 and 52,00 but also this doesn't mean everyone makes that. if you live in New York, los angles and Chicago you are usually paid more.  The job is very diverse sometimes you will go to the crime scene to analyze how the blood got on the wall an what type of blood pattern it is. You will get called into work when a crime investigation need your expertise on blood such as what type of blood is it how long has the blood been on the wall etc.

Case of blood spatter  In august 1980 the chamberlain family was camping near a rock formation called ayers rock in central Australia. Lindy chamberlain put her two children 4 year old Reagan and 10 week year old Azaria to bed in there tent. When she returned she “The dingo took my baby.” Linda says she saw the dingo dragging something but didn’t know what it was. When the blood spatter analysis arrived to the scene he looked at a baby jumper suit they found full of blood. the police claimed to have found stains in a cave near where Lindy was staying. Initially they found blood in lindys tent and found out it was Azaria's blood type. Since the police allowed and didn’t question when the chamberlains took the clothes home they messed up. Azaria’s chamberlain case shows what can happen when law enforcement isn’t trained in blood spatter analysis. Once the scene is changed and the clothing is washed there is no way of getting back the evidence. Since they washed the clothes the blood analyst could not find if there was blood on the chamberlains clothes.
