Why do we have families? For physical safety and shelter For love, affection, and emotional support For raising children in a stable setting For economic stability For comfort and support when someone is ill, aged, or too young to care for themselves.

Your turn! – Group discussion: – With your seat partners, discuss your family. What type of family do you belong to? – What support do you get from your family? – What are some traditions that your family has?

Family Tree Using the family tree handout, create your own family tree for our family wall. Talk to your family about who your grand parents and other relatives are. Dig deeply and ask their full names, when and where they were born, and when they died or if they are still living. Be as comprehensive as possible with the information on your tree. Color it!
