 Stress is the body’s response to real or imagined dangers or other life events.  Positive stress is stress that can help you reach your goals. Negative stress is also called distress. Distress is stress that keeps you from doing things that you need to do, or stress that causes you discomfort.  Stressors are sources of stress. Examples – Running late, playing a solo, giving a speech, death, divorce, moving, illness and/or loss of friendships.

 Fight or flight response – Your body’s way of responding to threats.  Adrenaline – hormone that increases the level of sugar in the blood, giving your body extra energy.  Avoiding stress can be as simple as getting up earlier, so you will not be rushed. Some stressors are unavoidable. You can deal with these stressors by being prepared and managing your time effectively. The same stressor can cause stress for one person and not another – Explain.

1. Eat nutritious foods. 2. Exercise regularly. 3. Talk with others. 4. Get enough rest. 5. Relax. 6. Think positively. 7. Use your time wisely.
