Jensen 6/2/2016Engineering Graphics & 3-D Modeling10 How to Build Your BOM  Get Materials Information from Web: n Density (mass per unit volume) (or similar) Note the density for each req’d mat’l (g/cc 3 ) n Cost (cost per unit volume, or cost per unit) or (etc) Calculate price/unit volume for large piece Calculate cost/unit for fasteners for large quantity  From Excel, for the BOM: n Multiply to find price/unit n Roll up sub assembly costs to find cost/assembly n Similarly, roll up unit weights, format the BOM spreadsheet, save, and include the info for the project
