EZ-Steer Advanced Workshop
Vehicle approval process Trimble staff must be involved for new vehicle brands/types. Install photos + vehicle settings essential Check bracket installation Determine calibration settings Verify safety and performance Warranty void if installed on non-approved vehicles

Configuration
Vehicle setup Copy Angle/Turn etc from approved vehicle table included in shipping box (or Enable MFWD helps get online faster Enable Difflock keeps vehicle on line better Make sure steering good condition –Freeplay should be < 2 inches –Replace worn tie-rods –Check hydraulic oil at correct level –Warm up hydraulic oil before using EZ-Steer
Maximum engage limits Note - Max speed depends on vehicle type
Rules of Engagement Bottom line of screen shows if you can engage - or if not, why not. –D = Distance too far offline –S = Too slow –F = Too fast –A = Angle too large –G = GPS position not available –O = Operator not present If users find it too hard to engage then increase engage limits Within all engage limits bottom line … OK = Engage
Optimizing Performance
Aggressiveness
Freeplay Common in many vehicles 2-4 in freeplay can stop oscillation at high speed
Override Sensitivity – stop auto disengage over bumps – allow disengage when turn steering wheel Need to hold wheel half a second to override More than 5 overrides on a swath => warning message
Motor speed Auto – High = best accuracy At lower speeds can use Auto-Med or Auto-Low to reduce steering wheel movement and jitter Auto-Low good for demo steering wheel
Optimizing - Support Note
Maintenance Keep motor and controller clean and dry –EZ-Steer is not waterproof –Do not mount on machines without enclosed cabs If foam wheel too worn (>1/4 inch wear) and slipping then replace it. May need to replace motor bushings after a few years?
Troubleshooting 1.Run self test 2.Check correct firmware on lightbar/controller 3.Check Vehicle Setup, Engage Limits, EZ-Steer – Faults screen 4.Go through Optimizing Performance support note 5.Check and AgPartners for new firmware upgrades and support notes. 6.Call Trimble support 7.Download lightbar error log 8.RMA
