Jet Engines By: Umar Ibrahim 6A

What is the invention? Jet engines are really powerful machines in planes that cause a tremendous amount of thrust so that the plane or jet is able to propel and to fly.

Who invented the jet engine and when? Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are now known as being the co-inventers of the powerful jet engine. It was also built and tested in 1937.

Where were the co- inventers from? Dr. Hans von Ohain is from Germany. Sir Frank Whittle is from Earlsdon, Coventry in England.

Why was it invented? They built jet engines instead of keeping the propellers because jet engines carries more advantages. Here are some advantages they have; they are able to operate in many conditions and are able to work at high altitude and speed without losing power or little power. They built jet engines instead of keeping the propellers because jet engines carries more advantages. Here are some advantages they have; they are able to operate in many conditions and are able to work at high altitude and speed without losing power or little power.

How does it work? The engine pulls air through it with a fan. A compressor then increases the pressure of the air. The compresses air is then shot at by fuel. Which lightens the mixture, and expands it. Which soon blasts out giving thrust.

How has human life been changed? It is less likely of the cause of injure when on a plane because the jet engine is able to process at high power with losing no or very little amount of power and having the ability to operate in many conditions as stated before.

What was the problem that created the jet engine? There wasn’t really a problem. The co-inventers of the Jet engine decided to go further into aircraft and make flight better.

What new problems have come to place? One huge problem that has come to place is releasing CO2 when the jet engine processes. This is a problem because CO2 is the cause of global warming.
